Petting zoo

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Ok, this isn't the petting zoo but it sure was cute!
Mom and I took the girls to see a little petting zoo here in Bloomington, when we pulled up Piper said that she was going to see a Zebra and both of us said no way, there won't be one there, we're feeding the goats and I look up and see a Zebra standing there - what????? She was very excited. The Parrot was pretty cool too.
we're feeling the wool and I'm trying to explain that it will get sheared off here pretty soon, just like it says in her animal books that Great Grandma Red gave her.

Man those greedy little things come swarming once you put your quarters in that little feeder, Piper was very popular.
Reagan was pretty interested as well, she didn't get to pet any though.

See, here she's going what the heck are those things. Both of the girls are so darn cute if I do say so myself.

When will Spring come?

Are we feeling better yet? Not so sure. This week we seem to have a new cold running through the house. The noses are going and we're hearing sneezing and coughing (only during sleeping though). This afternoon Piper was complaining of a sore throat. Sigh, we need some warm weather so we can get out of this house!

The girls sure do keep me busy. Piper has not been her usual self lately, probably due to being sick but she's been clingly and whiny (oh gosh it's a terrible sound) and so naughty. I don't know quite what she's going through, we've been trying to figure it out. I think we came to the conclusion that she could use some more one on one "fun" time with Mom so that means Dad and Reagan will get some extra bonding time and we'll get to take walks and do some of the fun stuff after dinner that Jason and her usually do. I'll be digging deep for some extra energy reserves, usually I am pooped by 5:00.

Sorry we haven't taken any new pictures, we've been laying low lately. When they get healthy I'm going to take them (at least Reagan) in to take some new professional pictures. I should get around to her 1 year shots.

Zoo and Gym

Friday, April 25, 2008

Hi everyone, we are finally starting to feel better. I was a little worried about Jason this morning, he wasn't feeling too great and off to the Doctors he went. Luckily he didn't have an ear infection, just feeling down and Piper head butted him under the chin last night so that really shook him up, his jaw is killing him. Ouch!!

Here are some pictures from our zoo visit last week and The Little Gym a few weeks ago. I took a bunch of video of the class too but I know not everyone can view them from the site so I'm not sure I'll post those, maybe.

this is the day before we figured out that she had pink eye
Piper loves flamingo's

A little lunch

Piper loves Miss Jessica (her teacher), she usually has to be first to do each new trick and is always looking for Jessica's reaction.

Sick Mommy too!

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

The girls are feeling better thank goodness! Poor Mommy is feeling terrible though, I've been down for the count for two days now so I finally went to see a (gasp) Doctor today. Turns out I have an ear infection too. The Doctor took one look at my tonsils and said "have you seen those?, here come take a look" and made me look at them with her little light. She said those are so red and swollen you could have strep too so here are your antiobiotics, drink a lot of fluids. I tried to explain to her that my tonsils are always that big but they were a little extra red today, but not swollen. I've decided after two days of laying in bed as much as the girls will let me that I will be feeling better tomorrow. Off to bed to attempt sleeping, it's so challenging when your hot/cold all night.

sick girls

Sunday, April 20, 2008

What a fun weekend we've had. Reagan has been fighting a cold all week but I didn't think too much of it. Her eyes have been goopy and then Piper's eye started getting red and goopy too. So off to Urgent Care we went. Turns out both girls have an ear infection and pink eye. FUN!!! I can't believe neither of them were complaining. I figured Reagan was teething and since she wasn't rubbing her eyes I figured the mess was part of her cold. Bad Mommy, I should have taken her/them in earlier in the week, maybe I could have prevented Piper from getting sick.

New things

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Reagan said "uh, oh" today while eating lunch. She dropped her cup and said it pretty clearly, Piper and I looked at each other and were shocked. It was pretty cute!

She has also been taking steps. Last weekend it was 2 and then down. Robin and Claire said she would walk 3-4 feet between them. Last night she was walking from me to Piper and then back. It was very exciting for Piper that Reagan would actually come to her. Of course the first time she caught Reagan she then fell back and bumped her head on the floor. I was amazed that Reagan kept walking back to her.

Reagan's last new thing.....climbing the stairs. I know, it took her long enough but she's been too timid to climb more than the bottom step. Not anymore! She will scale the entire flight in 3 seconds. There are too many gates as it is and now there is another.

Ok, go below and enjoy the pictures!!

Finally, here are the pictures

I've finally gotten around to going through the pictures - there are 3 posts with a lot of pictures. While going through my pictures I figured out why my camera was acting up, after we wrapped presents the night before Reagan's Birthday Piper got a hold of the camera and was taking quite a few pictures. Well she must have knocked a setting out of whack because now I have it back to working well. It's kind of interesting, most of the pictures are blurry but there is one focus point in each of them. Hmmmm?
all dressed up before the Dedication
Reagan was great, not even timid

Mom and I snuck Reagan home during Church so she could get changed, fed and allow me to get everything ready.

Reagan was so good, I thought she'd be overwhelmed with all the people but she was a trooper, never complained. Piper of course was so excited to have almost all of her favorite people over at her house, she had a blast!

Reagan's cake, she broke the candle off before I could even light it - she tore this cake up! I think there were only crumbs left by the time she was through. We have another cake lover in the family!

Mike, Hayley and David
Reagan and Aydan
Here are some of the guests - see, Sandi's in focus but everyone else is blurry - funny!

Piper was loving the fact that Aydan walked. Boy is she going to enjoy Reagan walking. Of course she was all over her, poor Aydan could barely move.

wrapping the presents, making the cake, opening the presents

Here are Piper and I wrapping Reagan's presents, Pipers a great helper and likes to get right in there, she was in charge of tape
and after a few mishaps with too much tape she got the hang of it.
Cake preparation - we used Fondant again and Jason had some interesting words while kneeding and rolling it out - here I am covered in powdered sugar and that was nothing, my kitchen was completely covered, walls, floor, baseboards, counters - everything! Jason's painting skills
Here's the final product - it doesn't look big in pictures but it was basically made from 4 cakes.

Here's the Birthday girl, she loves balloons and pulls the string down, down, down until she has the balloon in her grasp.

it was a bit difficult for Piper to allow Reagan to open her gifts herself.

ahhh - the present is finally opened - something new to play with.
