We had a fabulous day on the 4th. We had a lazy morning and after naptime we headed to the State Capital for the tea party. It downpoured right before we got there but there were still a few people hanging out. Piper loved the capital and thought it was a cool building.

she was totally posing for the camera

I've always been fascinated with the horses

After the capital we headed over to Dad's for dinner and visiting. When they got on the boat to go over to the fireworks we headed into Excelsior over to Mom's to watch from her front step. I think we found our new tradition for when we are in town, we had a guaranteed parking spot, a perfect view, and the best part is, after the last firework we were one of the only ones in the car and on the road. It took us 30 minutes to get home which is the normal amount of time it takes to get home. Mom said cars were still gridlocked leaving the parking lot at 11:30, we were home and in bed by then.

I don't know what Piper was doing here she's so funny. The girls were so tired, as soon as Piper got in the car she requested a pillow. They were out cold before we hit 494.

Before the fireworks we ventured down to the park to look at all the boats in the bay getting ready for the big show, then we stopped by Licks for some of our favorite ice cream.
We had a great 4th and now are looking forward to celebrating our Anniversary later this week by dropping the girls off at the cabin with Grandma and Papa and heading to the first place we camped together 12 short years ago.
